Don Roberts
Composer for Games & Interactive Media
Bio
Don Roberts is a game composer known for writing music with heart, clarity, and a strong sense of melody. His work reflects a lifelong love of game soundtracks, especially the emotional depth and charm of titles like Earthbound and Final Fantasy, along with a wide-ranging background in performing, teaching, and composing music across genres.
His recent work includes the original soundtrack for Woodo, a cozy narrative diorama game published by Daedalic Entertainment and developed by Tiny Monks Tales. The score blends whimsical wooden textures, heartfelt themes, and nostalgic harmonies, reflecting Don’s melodic approach and instinct for musical storytelling.
Before working in game development, Don spent over a decade composing music for commercial use, with licensed tracks appearing in ad campaigns and a documentary. A multi-instrumentalist and lifelong teacher, he has taught hundreds of students as a guitar instructor and has formal training in theory, piano, voice, and jazz harmony.
Don is particularly passionate about composing for narrative-driven games, especially fantasy and RPG titles. After a multi-year hiatus from music, he returned to composition for Woodo, rekindling a deep creative joy—and affirming his childhood dream of scoring games.
He currently lives in St. Louis with his wife and their seven children, who keep life noisy, joyful, and anything but boring.
